Plot

A narrator reveals in the flashback that the man is Sivasaami and the boy is his son Chidambaram, while the woman, man and child are Sivasaami's wife Pachaiyamma, her brother Murugesan and young daughter Lakshmi. They also had an older son called Velmurugan (Teejay Arunasalam). They are a family of farmers living in Thekkoor (lit. southern village) in Tirunelveli district. Sivasaami has a close, loving relationship with his older son but a distant, almost abusive relationship with Chidambaram. Sivasami's family, along with most residents of Thekkoor, are Dalits.In 1980s Tamil Nadu, a man and a boy are trekking through a river in a rural village, carrying homemade bombs and hiding from the police. In another part of the village, a woman (Manju Warrier), man (Pasupathy) and a young child are also hiding from the police. The movie then moves into a flashback.

Vadakoor Narasimhan is the richest landlord from Vadakoor (lit. northern village), who belongs to an upper caste and is buying the 1600 acres of farmland in Thekkoor under the name of his servant for a cement factory his brother Venkatesan will take control of. However, they need Sivasaami's 3 acres of land as well to complete their plan, to which the family are against, especially Velmurugan. One day, Pachaiyamma argues with one of Narasimhan's sons who was unjustly extracting water from the common well, and he hits her, to which Velmurugan retaliates by severely injuring him and his men. The latter gets arrested for this, for which Sivasaami bows and touches the feet of every single male member of the landlord's village in order to have him released after Narasimhan says so. Velmurugan comes back, bruised and battered, and finds out about what his father did. He corners Narasimhan in a bathroom cubicle and hits him multiple times using slippers, humiliating him. In revenge, Narasimhan's henchmen, led by a hunter Kariyan, ambush Velmurugan in the night and hack him to death, taking him away. Chidambaram witnesses this and tells his father and Murugesan, and they file a missing person case with the police.

The next day, Velmurugan's mutilated, beheaded body is found in a nearby field. The police refuses to help, as they can't confirm it's him as they can't find the head. Pachaiyamma suffers PTSD for a year after which she recovers, and holds one year death condolence for her son. Seeing the suffering caused to his family by his brother's murder, Chidambaram tails Narasimhan during one night and hacks him in his village, killing him, and escapes from his henchman using homemade bombs. The family is shocked on hearing about this from Sivasaami who witnessed Narasimhan's death and cut the lights when Chidambaram attacked, and when his son comes back that night, Murugesan tells the father and son to hide in the forest. The film switches back to the present.

One of Narasimhan's family members asks Kariyan and his men to find the two, to which they agree. Pachaiyamma, Murugesan and Lakshmi hide in a family friend, Maari's, house, and they move from there after some time as well and hide in various places. One day, Kariyan finally finds the two and tries to capture the son, but Sivasaami fights them all off, sparing their lives for unknown reasons. While the two recover near a river, Sivasaami narrates his past and explains why he no longer wants to kill anyone.

Contrary to what he told his sons, Sivasaami was actually a village-famous moonshine brewer. He worked under Viswanathan (A. Venkatesh), a rich landlord, and the latter always trusted Sivasaami. One day, he asks if his boss could employ Pandiyan (Nitish Veera), a distant relative of Viswanathan who was currently in poverty, as an accountant, to which the boss agrees. Sivasaami's brother Murugan and Venugopal Seshadri, a Communist lawyer, is trying to obtain justice for the landless labourers by filing a case against the various landlords in their village who had seized their Panchami land, including Viswanathan. Sivasaami receives various wedding proposals but all are denied after they find out about his alcohol ventures, but his relative Maariyamma convinces him to marry her, to which he agrees and they fall in love. When Sivasaami gives her sandals, Pandiyan humiliates her by forcing her to put the sandals on her head. Sivasaami retaliates by hitting him with sandals. However, Viswanathan intervenes and supports Pandiyan as they're related, and Sivasaami is saddened at the loss of trust. One night, before a meeting conducted by Seshadri and Murugan with the local farmers, news arrives that Seshadri was arrested at the train station and Sivasaami is made to go to his house to obtain the authorised documents which allowed the meeting to occur after the police come and intervene. When he comes back, many people were killed in the meeting, including Murugan, and it's revealed that Viswanathan's armed men were hiding in the crowd. Their village was also burned down by Pandiyan and his men and many people died, including Maariyamma. Enraged, Sivasaami enters his boss' home and hacks many of the men there to death, including Pandiyan and Viswanathan.

Sivasaami then reveals that he had left that village and stumbled across Murugesan, who took pity on him and taught him how to become a farmer. He's also introduced to Pachaiyamma. No one is willing to marry her as Sivasaami is staying there, and so he feels guilty and tells them that he's ready to leave if they're not fine with him staying there. He narrates his story to the two, and Pachaiyamma admires what he did to defend his family, and so she agrees to marry Sivasaami. He surrenders to the court and luckily is given a light sentence as Seshadri stated he only killed in self-defence during a communal riot. Afterwards, he marries Pachaiyamma. Chidambaram is amazed at his father's past and starts to admire him. Sivasaami reconciles with his wife and daughter briefly, and he and his son go to Seshadri for help. Seshadri agrees to help them as long as they turn up to court the next day, to which they agree.

The next day, it is revealed that the police have been stationed outside the court to arrest the father and son when they come, and Narasimhan's men are in the court premises if they manage to get past the police. The two get into the premises but escape after the men find them. Seshadri becomes angry as they didn't turn up to court and Sivasaami tells him what happened, and also says he's ready to sell his land to them to stop any more violence. Narasimhan's family members agree, and they reluctantly sell the land in presence of the village council. Chidambaram stays near a temple. However, he gets abducted and taken to the village square by Narasimhan's family to be killed, violating the Panchayat's orders. Sivasaami comes in, armed with a sickle, and single-handedly takes out many of the henchmen, including some prominent family members, but he and Chidambaram sustain serious injuries. Murugesan and their village people arrive armed and defuse the situation.

In the end, it's revealed that the two villages agreed that the conflict should end and prevented a caste clash. Sivasaami's family has gathered in the court and he has agreed to go to jail instead of Chidambaram if that's needed. He tells his son to study hard to become a powerful man, and that unlike farmland and money, the landlords can't seize their education. The film ends with Sivasaami smiling at his family as he enters the court.

Plot

The film begins with Kanyakumari (Sneha) and her son Shakthi being ambushed by some foreigners. When one of the foreigners beats her son, Kanya gets enraged and plucks out the foreigner's larynx, which is noticed by the police nearby. Kanya is arrested and sent to jail for 16 years.

We are taken to the present, where Shakthi (Dhanush) and Puncture (KPY Sathish) are robbing an MMA academy. The owner of the academy, Nilan (Naveen Chandra), gets upset when he finds out that his trophy is missing and calls the police in to investigate. The police in turn call Shakthi and Puncture, only for the two to become informers for the police and find out the robbers who robbed Nilan's trophy (the police officers do not know that it was Shakthi and Puncture who robbed the trophy). They are forced to work with Sadhana Sha (Mehreen Pirzada), the owner of their opposite house and with whom they have an enmity. Later in the film, it is revealed that Shakthi and Puncture robbed the academy, knowing the fact that Sadhana was kept in charge of it, hence humiliating her. Meanwhile, Kanya is released from jail and follows Nilan, planning to kill him. She follows him until his gym, where she sees Shakthi, who she thought, got killed when the foreigner hit him. Nilan finds out that she is attempting to kill him and tries to capture her but in vain. When Kanya comes to Shakthi's house in searching for him, Sadhana, unbeknownst to her, sets up Kanya and leaves her to get attacked because Nilan, her boss, instructed her to do so. When thugs arrive at Kanya's location to kill her, Shakthi comes to her rescue and in the process finds out that she is his mother. He then finds out his past.

Thiraviyaperumal (Dhanush) is a skilled Adimurai warrior and Shakthi's father, who is taught the art by his master Muthaiah Asaan (Nassar), who is also Nilan's (actual name Nilapparai) father. Nilan's father, who himself is a skilled Adimurai warrior, keeps degrading him because Nilan is not able to learn Adimurai, which leaves Nilan frustrated. Even though Thiraviyaperumal and Nilan are friends, on hearing his father continuously compares Thiraviyaperumal's feats with his own, Nilan gets agitated. When Nilan is forced to fight Kanya, who also stays in the village, and she defeats him, he is very humiliated and he leaves the village.

Thiraviyaperumal soon realizes that Adimurai is only known to their village and is not known to Tamil Nadu, when his disciple commits suicide when he is refused the job of a police officer. He decides to open a school that teaches Adimurai and gets the minister to agree. Meanwhile, Nilan comes back from abroad as a kickboxing champion and plans to recruit people to learn kickboxing. On confronting the villagers, he beats a boy, which leads to a fight between Nilan and Thiraviyaperumal; if Nilan wins, he can teach kickboxing, and if Thiraviyaperumal wins, Nilan has to fall at the feet of the boy he hit and ask for forgiveness. Thiraviyaperumal defeats Nilan, and in retaliation, Nilan kills Muthaiah Asaan and poisons the food of the village. He then burns down the village and Thiraviyaperumal to death. Kanya escapes with her son Shakthi, leading to the events in the beginning.

Shakthi swears revenge and enrolls in the MMA event organized by Nilan. He is trained by his mother Kanya in the art of Adimurai. On the day of the event, Nilan uses a convict from Thailand who has killed four people in the ring to fight with Shakthi. Shakthi defeats him, but the convict stabs Shakthi in the right shoulder. He still fights the next opponent and emerges victorious as he is ambidextrous. Nilan asks his son Richard to use unethical methods, to kill Shakthi but Richard refuses and forfeits the match. Sadhana eavesdrops Nilan and tells Shakthi, but ends up getting smashed into a glass table, due to this, she is rushed to the hospital. Nilan then challenges Shakthi, and while Nilan has the upper hand initially, Shakthi defeats Nilan and lets Nilan go, like his father. The film ends with Shakthi winning the championship and giving a speech on Adimurai and its importance, followed by the acceptance of Adimurai as a sport by the Tamil Nadu Sports ministry, thus achieving Thiraviyaperumal's dream of spreading Adimurai throughout Tamil Nadu.

Plot

The movie begins with Gautham in a prison saying that he too has a story to tell. The movie cuts to Yamini and Gautham's story. They are in a live-in relationship. Gautham is pursuing his dream of becoming a writer. Yamini takes care of Gautham like a mother and is always supportive of his decisions. But she doesn't see him putting in any effort for his dream and is fed up with her routine life. She eventually breaks up with Gautham.

This makes Gauthum start writing again and he writes a story which takes place in Yellandu. The protagonist Srinu is a union leader in the coal mines and is married to Suvarna unwillingly and the couple have a 5-year old son. The newly appointed officer, Ms.Smitha gets close to Srinu, not knowing that he is married. Srinu does not disclose his marital status either, and starts to avoid his own wife Suvarna. Suvarna suspects that her husband is having an extra-marital affair but doesn't confront him. Instead, she decides to pursue her career. She tops her examinations and it is published in the local newspaper, causing Smitha to know that Srinu is married, that too with a son. Srinu upon rushing home, finds Suvarna in a modern dress. She tells him that she'll be whatever he wants her to be, including wearing revealing clothes and make-up. All this made Srinu understand his mistake and go back to loving his wife. The story ends with a note from Gautham saying that Srinu sacrificed everything to be with his wife.

Now, the story cuts back to the present where Gautham recalls his past on how he first encountered Yamini and how they fell in love. The next morning, he goes to meet Yamini in her office to tell her that he has started writing again, but Yamini asks him to leave. Another glimpse from his past is shown, when Gautham and Yamini used to work in the same office. Yamini was going to get terminated and Gautham was going to get a promotion to work in Paris. Instead he resigns the job requesting the manager to retain Yamini's position. The film again cuts back to the present where Gautham says that if he hadn't resigned his job, he would have been in Paris right now. This inspires him to write another story which takes place in Paris.

In Paris, Gautham is working in a radio station, he loves Parachuting. He falls in love with his neighbour Iza, a pilot. On Iza's birthday she wanted something memorable, so Gautham takes her for bike racing which ends in a tragic accident where Iza loses her eyesight. After 6 months, she gets a compatible eye donor and regains her vision. It is revealed that Gautham was the one who donated his eyes for Iza and he tells her to come back to him if she realized his love. This story ends with a note saying that Gautham sacrificed his vision for love.

The film cuts to the present when Yamini comes to visit Gautham to invite him for her wedding, which is in 3 days. A frustrated Gautham yells at Yamini and she leaves the house. Gautham later goes to Yamini's house to try and convince her in vain. On his way home he gets into a fight with a random guy and ends up in prison for bashing his head with a rock. After 2 years Gautham is released and his friend publishes his book on behalf of Gautham, named "The World Famous Lover". Gautham attends the press meet of his book's success event while the public eagerly waits for the unfinished climax of the story. On stage, he recounts his tale stating that upon returning from jail Yamini waits for him and they both live happily ever after, whereas in reality no one was waiting for him. He says that its always been Yamini who compromised. And even in Srinu's story it is Suvarna who always compromised and not her husband. In the Paris love story, the sacrifice made by Gautham came from the sacrifice made by Yamini in real life. He concludes the press meet by saying that he wants Yamini to be happy wherever she is.

Later, Yamini's father reveals to Gautham that when Yamini came to know that he had been arrested, she called off her wedding. He then leaves his daughter to Gautham. Gautham asks for forgiveness. She forgives him and asks if he knows the route to his home. He nods, implying yes. The film ends with Gautham and Yamini getting back together.

Plot

Lance Sterling, a cocky secret agent of H.T.U.V. (Honor, Trust, Unity and Valor), is sent to recover an attack drone from Japanese arms dealer Katsu Kimura in Japan. As soon as the buyer, cybernetically enhanced terrorist Killian, arrives, Sterling breaks in against the orders of H.T.U.V. director Joy Jenkins, defeats Kimura and his gang, and manages to escape with the briefcase containing the drone. Sterling returns to H.T.U.V. headquarters to confront Walter Beckett, a socially inept MIT graduate and outcast young scientist, for equipping nonlethal weapons into his suit. Walter tries to convince Sterling that there is a more peaceful way to save the world, but Sterling fires him before he can explain his latest invention: "biodynamic concealment".

Sterling discovers the briefcase to be empty and is confronted by Marcy Kappel, a security forces agent, who reveals footage of Sterling (actually Killian in a holographic disguise) leaving with the drone, labeling him as a traitor. Sterling escapes the H.T.U.V. and decides to track down Walter to help him disappear. Meanwhile, Killian breaks into the H.T.U.V. weapons facility.

While searching Walter's home for his invention, Sterling unknowingly ingests the concoction and transforms into a pigeon. Before Walter can start making an antidote to change him back, Marcy and other H.T.U.V. agents chase the duo through the city, but they escape in Sterling's spy car. The two track down Kimura to a resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. There, they learn of Killian's whereabouts in Venice, Italy before Marcy and the H.T.U.V. can capture them again. On their way to Venice, Walter attempts to make the antidote, but fails.

Arriving in Venice, Walter is confronted by the H.T.U.V., who are unaware of Sterling's condition. Revealing that she knows about Wendy, Walter's mother who was a police officer who died on duty, Marcy tries to convince him to help turn Sterling in, but Walter refuses. Suddenly, a drone distracts the H.T.U.V. and allows Walter and Sterling to escape. The two discover the drone carrying the H.T.U.V. agent database, and Walter manages to retrieve it. However, Killian shows up, takes the database, and prepares to kill Walter. With help from hundreds of pigeons in the surrounding area, they distract Killian and flee. Disguised as Sterling once more, Killian escapes the H.T.U.V., shaking Marcy's suspicions of Sterling upon her seeing him with a robot hand.

Whilst underwater in a submarine, Walter reveals he planted a tracking device on Killian and locates him at the weapons facility. Walter manages to perfect the antidote and successfully turns Sterling human again. Reaching Killian's hideout, Sterling is concerned about Walter's safety and sends him away in the submarine. Once inside, Sterling confronts Killian, but is defeated and captured as Killian reveals he has mass produced hundreds of drones to target everyone at the agency using the database as revenge for killing his crew in a past mission led by Sterling. Noticing Walter returning in the submarine, Killian destroys it; unbeknownst to them, Walter survives with the help of one of his inventions, the inflatable hug.

Once Walter frees Sterling, the two escape and contact Marcy for support as the drones approach H.T.U.V. headquarters in Washington D.C. Walter attempts to hack into Killian's bionic arm but when Killian realizes this, he tries to flee via air with a drone, but Walter catches up. Walter risks his life by trapping Killian in the inflatable hug and deactivates the villain's arm as Walter himself falls, but Sterling, who has turned himself back into a pigeon, successfully flies for the first time and carries him to safety with help from other pigeons, while Killian is found and arrested.

Despite saving the world, Sterling, back in his human form, and Walter are fired for disobedience. However, they are quickly rehired by the H.T.U.V. as the agency could learn from Walter's more peaceful ways of handling villainy.

Plot

Three years after their adventure in Jumanji, Spencer Gilpin, Anthony "Fridge" Johnson, Martha Kaply, and Bethany Walker lead different lives, but plan a reunion brunch in Brantford, New Hampshire, that year. Spencer, apprehensive of the meeting due to his comparatively dull life, contemplates returning to Jumanji where he had purpose, and spends his first night looking over the broken video-game system he held onto. The following day, his friends visit his home, meeting with Spencer's grandfather Eddie, who is recovering from hip surgery, and Eddie's former friend and business partner Milo Walker, who is visiting for an unknown reason. Learning that they have no idea where Spencer is, the group searches the house and finds the Jumanji game partially repaired in the basement. Realizing Spencer returned to the game, his friends decide to follow him.

The game malfunctions when starting up, drawing in Fridge, Martha, Eddie and Milo, leaving Bethany and forcing her to contact fellow Jumanji alumnus Alex Vreeke for help. Inside the game, Martha finds herself as her avatar Ruby Roundhouse, yet Fridge becomes Bethany's avatar Professor Sheldon Oberon, while Eddie and Milo become Spencer and Fridge's avatars Dr. Smolder Bravestone and Franklin "Mouse" Finbar respectively. After instructing Eddie and Milo on the game's rules, the group encounters non-player character Nigel Billingsley, the game's guide, who reveals that since its last use, Jumanji is suffering from a massive drought. To leave the game, Nigel reveals that the group must recover the "Falcon Jewel" – a magical necklace stolen by warlord Jurgen the Brutal – which can end the drought if brought before sunlight and uttering "Jumanji".

Transported to a desert called the Dunes to track down Jurgen, and after narrowly escaping a flock of pursuing ostriches, the group encounters Spencer operating as skilled thief Ming Fleetfoot, a new avatar, who agrees to help them after blaming himself for their predicament. While attempting to escape the Dunes, the group faces new challenges and problems, along with collecting an in-game item called a Jumanji Berry, and discovering a pool of glowing green water that allows them to switch avatars. In the process, Eddie bickers with Milo, revealing their friendship ended when Milo sold a diner they owned behind Eddie's back, forcing him into retirement. During their argument, Eddie realises that Milo is terminally ill and wanted to make amends before he died - the two reconcile their differences with Eddie saving Milo's life during a Mandrill attack. After the group crosses a series of rope bridges they are reunited with Alex, as his avatar Jefferson McDonough, and Bethany, operating a new avatar called Cyclone – a black horse that can only be understood by Finbar.

Working together, the party leaves the Dunes, and finds a river with the same glowing green water, allowing Spencer, Bethany, and Fridge to become their original avatars, while Eddie and Milo respectively end up as Ming and Cyclone. Shortly after changing characters, Jurgen's mercenaries capture Eddie and Milo. The group infiltrates Jurgen's fortress separately to rescue teammates and steal the Falcon Jewel. While scaling the ice wall to the fortress, Martha asks Spencer why he abandoned his old life and her, prompting Spencer to admit that Martha's success at college made him insecure about himself. Martha consoles him and reminds him that he needs his friends when he is scared and insecure. When the confrontation turns into a battle, Spencer pursues Jurgen to his airship, while the others distracted his men. Finding himself unable to beat Jurgen, Spencer discovers he is weak to the Jumanji Berry, incapacitating him long enough to send him plummeting to his death in the wintery fog below. Discovering Cyclone has retractable wings that allow him to fly, Eddie and Milo work together to rescue Spencer and bring the recovered Falcon's Heart to the sun, calling out "Jumanji" and ending the drought.

Returning the necklace to Nigel for safekeeping, the group is surprised when Milo elects to stay behind and protect the land. Upon returning to the real world, Spencer decides to teach his grandfather about video games, while Eddie uses what he learned in the game to convince the owner of his old diner (Aunt Nora from the 1995 film) to hire him on as a manager, with his grandson and his friends turning up to enjoy a meal together.

In a mid-credits scene, the heating mechanic who Spencer's mother hired finally shows up, only to be drawn to the game, while Spencer and the others are surprised to witness a flock of ostriches rush past the diner.

• Dwayne Johnson as Dr. Xander "Smolder" Bravestone: Eddie's avatar (Later Spencer's again) who, unlike previously, has a weakness: he cannot escape the wrath of Jumanji NPC Switchblade without dying.
  • Johnson also portrays Bravestone's father in a flashback scene in the film, where Zachary Tzegaegbe portrayed a young Bravestone while Jennifer Patino portrayed Bravestone's mother.
• Jack Black as Professor Sheldon "Shelly" Oberon: Fridge's avatar (Later Martha's temporarily then to Fridge's avatar again and later Bethany's again) who develops a new skill (geometry) and three new weaknesses (heat, sun and sand; simply for comedic effect as the first level is in a desert).
• Kevin Hart as Franklin "Mouse" Finbar: Milo's avatar (Later Fridge's again) who develops a new skill: linguistics, the ability to communicate with animals.
• Karen Gillan as Ruby Roundhouse: Martha's avatar (and temporarily Fridge's then to Martha's avatar again) who gets a new skill: nunchuck mastery.
• Nick Jonas as Jefferson "Seaplane" McDonough: Alex's avatar who is an aircraft pilot.
• Awkwafina as Ming Fleetfoot: Spencer's new avatar (Later Eddie's) whose character's background is a thief with skills in burglary, pick-pocketing and lock picking, and who has a weakness to pollen.
• Rory McCann as Jurgen the Brutal: a new antagonist of Jumanji, whose backstory presents him as an iron-fisted and arrogant warlord, responsible for murdering Bravestone's parents years ago. Like the game avatars, he has a list of strengths and weaknesses.
• Danny DeVito as Edward "Eddie" Gilpin: Spencer's grandfather. He is retired, following the sale of a diner he owned in Brantford, with little understanding of video games.
• Danny Glover as Milo Walker: Eddie's estranged friend and diner co-owner, before its sale ended their friendship. Characters Milo Walker and Bethany Walker are not related.

In addition, the film also cast a number of actors for supporting roles, which included: Dania Ramirez as Jumanji NPC Flame; Massi Furlan as Jumanji NPC Switchblade; John Ross Bowie as Cavendish, the butler of Jurgen; and Lamorne Morris as a heater repairman. Lucy DeVito portrays Maiden, while Marin Hinkle returned alongside returning cast members from Welcome to the Jungle to reprise her role as Mrs. Gilpin. Ashley Scott was originally intended to also appear as Ashley, but her scenes were later dropped from the final edit.^{[citation needed]}
